Harriet has been fostered by a small rescue group in Wall Township,
NJ for almost 18 months. A shelter asked for helpfrom "Pet's with
Disabilities" in saving her from euthanasia due to a problem with
her back.
After two sets of x-rays it was determined that she would need an MRI
which would cost approximately $1200. The rescue group had no available
funds to be able to do this however, over the past few months, Harriet
has had water therapy, physical therapy and cortisone treatment to no
avail. It has become apparent that her problem is degenerative in nature.
A kind woman who met Harriet made "kitty blankets" to sell
and raised the $400 necessary for us to order a mobility cart for her.
She took to the cart like a fish to water. In less than ten minutes, she
even knew how to backup!
She is a very intelligent, loving dog, probably around 60 pounds with
a possible mix of shepherd/collie. She is up to date on vaccines and is
spayed.
Her only issue is that she does not like the company of other dogs, probably
because she is unable to defend herself or move rapidly if necessary.
Harriet does however, seem intent on getting where she needs to go.
At this point in time, the rescue group is unable to help her, physically
with her every day exercise that is needed or financially. She has been
through so much in so little time and has endured with her head held high.
She is in need of a foster or permanent home.
