Elk Velvet Antler is a safe,
natural remedy that relieves joint pain and promotes bone, muscle and cartilage
growth.
Male elk grow antler which is naturally shed each year in early spring. The
next set of antler begins to grow immediately and is covered with soft, furry
velvet. For use as a supplement the antler is **humanely harvested ‘velvet’
stage of growth when the antler contains the most nutritional value, hence the
name Elk Velvet Antler.
It is NOT the outside velvet
covering that is used in the product, but the inner cartilaginous matrix.
Elk Antler is the world’s fastest growing mammalian tissue. A mature bull
can grow 50lbs of antler in 90 days!

** The Humane process
of harvesting elk antler-
Before carryiing this product, I spoke with Barbara one of the owners of CANeva
to find out what this humane process is all about and is it truely "humane".
I was pleasantly surprised to find Barbara to be a very sweet woman, who truely
cares about their herd. She even gets kisses from some of the elk when she goes
out to feed them.
They harvest the antler
(much like shearing wool from sheep) without causing stress or pain to the bull.
Since elk are herd animals, they bring at least two at a time into the barn,
even if only one is having his antlers harvested. This is one way they reduce
their stress by not isolating them. They use a tounaquet technique developed
in New Zealand, in cooperartion with animals rights activists and veterinarians,
that ties off the blood to the antler. The antler is removed, leaving a small
numb that will be shed as part of the natural annual shed. The process starts
again with the male elk growing his new set of antlers. |
