Raw Food for Dogs
Why feed raw food for dogs?
Raw diets provide nutrition the way nature intended. A diet consisting primarily
of raw meat, organ meats, bone, and fat reflects what your pets ancestors would
eat in their natural habitat. Since dogs and cats are carnivorous by nature,
they thrive on a diet rich in nutritious meat.
At BellasPainRelief.com, we believe natural is best – and a raw (uncooked)
diet is as natural as you can get! Since raw diets provide nutrition the way
nature intended, they do use extra processing or additives to prolong shelf
life. The finest human grade ingredients are ground, blended fresh, then frozen
and remains that way until you defrost it for your pet.
The commercial pet food industry was created as a means to get rid of meat
& by-products that could not be sold for human consumption. All you need
to do is spend a little time on Google to learn the horrors of what is truly
in that bag of dry food on the supermarket shelf. You will really be upset when
you find out what is actually "allowed" in as part of AAFCO standards.
Let's look at the ingredients of "Pedigree Dog Food" as an example,
you will find:
Ground Whole Corn, Meat And Bone Meal, Ground Whole Wheat, Corn
Gluten Meal, Animal Fat (preserved With BHA
and Citric Acid), Wheat Mill Run, Chicken By-product Meal, Natural Flavor, Salt,
Rice, Potassium Chloride, Vegetable Oil (source of Linoleic Acid), Vitamins
(Dl-alpha Tocopherol Acetate [source of Vitamin E], Choline Chloride, L-Ascorbyl-2-Polyphosphate
[source of Vitamin C*], Vitamin A Supplement, Thiamine Mononitrate [Vitamin
B1], Biotin, D-Calcium Pantothenate, Riboflavin Supplement [Vitamin B2], Vitamin
D3 Supplement, Vitamin B12 Supplement), Dried Vegetables (Peas, Carrots), Minerals
(Zinc Sulfate, Zinc Proteinate, Copper Sulfate, Copper Proteinate, Manganese
Proteinate, Potassium Iodide), Added FD&C Colors (Red 40, Blue 2, Yellow
6, Yellow 5).
When reading a dry food label, the bulk of the product is made up of all the
ingredients that appear before whatever fat is used in the product. So if we
look at the ingredients in Pedigree, the bulk of what you are feeding your dog
is Corn, a mystery meat, wheat and corn gluten! Cheap fillers being passed off
as nutrition for your dog! Dogs eat the product because they are sprayed with
a flavoring to make it more appealing.
Speaking of the fat, notice it is preserved with BHA. According to the National
Institute of Health, BHA in the diet has been found to consistently produce
certain types of tumors in laboratory animals. The FDA regulations still permit
its use as a fat preservative in food under the assumption it is “generally
recognized as safe” in low doses. You feed your dog twice a day, everyday
for years. How safe is it for your dog, really?
